A Little Bit Longer

I always think to myself, "why did you choose me god?". I was always confused why did i have to go thought this when know one else did? My life involves needles, shots, tubes and lots of blood. Ever since i was a little girl i always questioned my mom "Why does nobody else have to do what i have to do?" and my mom would always replied back "Its just how life is sometimes, you have to put your life in gods hands and trust in him." I still didn't know what was wrong with my body until one day this word struck me in tears. Diabetes. My mind felt world winded and i didn't know what to say. I was lost with words. My head suddenly felt heavy on my shoulders and my feet felt like they would give any minute. I was diagnosed with diabetes when i was nine months old. I don't have any memory without diabetes. I want to be normal again more than anything.
Diabetes didn't make my life miserable completely it has actually lead me to bigger and better things.I think to myself now " Why not me? I can make a difference for JDRF and help kids that have it. In the Summer of 2009 i was chosen to go to Washington, D.C. to testify  for more research and tell congressmen that we need the research or we will lose 60% of research. Which wouldn't make it closer to a cure. This was an amazing opportunity because i got to meet a few big stars such as Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers, Jared Allen of the Minnesota Vikings,  and many more. I also got to go into the White House and meet Obama. This even changed my life cause it gave me a new perspective of my disease. I can make a difference for me and everyone else around me. I took a step forward and have been volunteering for many things involving the JDRF. I have talked to the Virginia Congressmen about this disease and we can't stop researching until the cure is found. Living with diabetes has been a challenge but it doesn't slow me down. It is a big part of my life and sometimes I'm glad i have it. A little bit longer, and I will be fine.
